Jessica Jungton, thanks for the shout out! I see a great deal of “rate shaming” in the freelance world. New writers are often publicly humiliated for working for low rates. It can get really nasty. I’ve seen many people get hurt by it when they’re simply trying to earn a living.

Although I think there’s a discussion to be had on the subject of what rates a writer should be willing to accept, public shaming leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It moves us away from what could be a valuable conversation that carries our industry forward.
