Hi, Jennifer,

Thanks so much for writing such a thorough response to this story. Firstly, please don’t feel stupid for being taken in by the IAPWE. I don’t know if you read the other responses, but you’re in good company! They went through elaborate lengths to deceive us with the fake job listings, fake blogs and fake job posts. Lots of people were taken in.

I have not heard from anyone else who had unauthorized funds taken from their account. I’m not sure if this means it’s something they don’t do often, or if the time they did do it was a somehow a legitimate mistake on their part (in as much as an illegitimate company can make a legitimate mistake).

I am very curious about what you mentioned about Upwork. Upwork is a legitimate company and I can’t imagine they are in cahoots with the IAPWE. If the IAPWE is using them to appear legitimate and scam people I’m sure Upwork would be interested.

You are the first person who has mentioned this to me so I’m wondering if they’re changing their ruse since so many people were catching on about the empty Basecamp. Would you be willing to forward me the email where the IAPWE mentions this? I’d like to update my story so that writers and editors who read it are aware of their new game plan if they have one. My email is tamaragane@yahoo.com

Thank you again for your response. And good luck with legitimate job opportunities. They’re out there!
